While voting on election day spans 12 hours, work behind-the-scenes has been underway for more than 12 months.
“So many of my colleagues have dedicated long days and nights to ensuring everything runs as smoothly as possible,” said Sherwood Armbruster, the City’s Senior Election Official.
The importance of democracy is at the foundation of the City Clerk’s Department. Those involved understand the significance of organizing the 2026 Municipal Council and School Boards Election.
“When we do our job well, much of that work goes unnoticed,” he said. “But I can’t think of any other project that gives me a greater sense of pride than helping deliver a civic election.”
Get ready, set, vote!
Advance voting runs October 5 – 23 and election day is on October 28.
We’re preparing to welcome voters at 174 advance voting locations and 184 sites on election day.
There are over 533,000 names on the voters list. Armbruster hopes people take the time to find out if they are eligible to vote and where to cast their ballot. Votes will be cast for the offices of Mayor, Councillor, and School Trustee.
“I see voting and working on the democratic process as not just a privilege, but a sacred responsibility,” said Armbruster. “It’s incredibly important for people to get out and vote for their local officials, so they can help shape the services that reflect their communities.”
Elected officials at City Hall deal with issues that can directly impact residents. That includes transportation, recreation, public safety, and garbage collection.
