To market the City and provide services to facilitate economic development and tourism opportunities for Winnipeg in collaboration with partners, consistent with the Economic Opportunity Framework – Winnipeg, a City of Opportunity, adopted by Council on December 6, 2006.

Jurisdiction
On April 24, 2002, Council adopted Clause 3 of the Report of the Executive Policy Committee dated April 17, 2002, which directed “That Economic Development Winnipeg and Tourism Winnipeg amalgamate their operations into one agency (Destination Winnipeg), and that the amalgamated agency work with the Winnipeg Convention Centre to develop a strategic marketing and communication partnership.
On May 13, 2010, Destination Winnipeg Inc. announced it would restructure under the original Economic Development Winnipeg Inc. name with a refined mandate and a new organizational framework.
Composition
- Members of the Corporation are the Mayor of the City of Winnipeg and the Premier of the Province of Manitoba , or their respective designated person by proxy or, where the offices are vacant or a person has not been designated by proxy, the Deputy Mayor or Acting Mayor, or Deputy Premier or Acting Premier, as the case may be
- No less than three and no more than 15 citizen board members appointed by both of the Members
- Each of the Members shall appoint an ex-officio director
