Golf Services adds storied 9-hole course for this season

Canoe Club Golf Course
We’ve added the 9-hole Canoe Club Golf Course to our portfolio for this season.

We’ve added a new club to our bag this season.

The Canoe Club Golf Course has been added to the portfolio of City-run golf courses in Winnipeg. The challenging and storied 9-hole course had been privately operated, but is now being run by the City. Canoe Club now joins Kildonan Park, Windsor Park, and Crescent Drive as our group of City-run courses.

“The location, the history, and the characteristics of the golf course make it a great addition to our City-run courses,” said Ben Fey, General Manager of Golf Services. “The Canoe Club has been a staple among Winnipeg’s public courses for a long time."

We’re excited to be taking it over and making improvements that golfers will enjoy for years to come.

The Canoe Club Golf Course was first opened in 1918, when a golf course was added to the services of the private members’ club. It later became a public course and has long been a fun and challenging 9-hole course on the banks of the Red River and in the heart of Winnipeg.

One of the course’s defining features is the fact its holes are separated by Dunkirk Drive. A cart path leads golfers underneath Dunkirk between the fifth and sixth holes. There is also a mix of par 3, 4 & 5 holes mixed into the 9-hole course.

Golf Services has made upgrades to the clubhouse since taking over operations, refinishing the pro shop and washroom areas. Further improvements are expected in the future to both the clubhouse and conditions on the course. There is also a full fleet of electric power carts now available for rent at Canoe Club, matching the power cart services available at other City-run courses.

Canoe Club, Crescent Drive, Kildonan Park, and Windsor Park golf courses all opened for the season on April 19.  For a limited time, customers will receive a voucher for $5 off a round at Canoe Club with the purchase of any green fee at Kildonan Park, Windsor Park or Crescent Drive.

You can book your tee time at any of our City-run courses by visiting winnipeg.ca/golf, phoning the course’s pro shop, or contacting 311.
