Every year, we attend career fairs across the city to talk to job seekers about working at the City of Winnipeg.
Later this month, we’ll be visiting post-secondary schools, and we’re excited to meet you. Students are invited to drop by to ask questions, explore career opportunities, and get tips for applying.
Where to find us
We’ll be an exhibitor at the following post-secondary career fairs in January:
- University of Manitoba Queer Asper Students (UMQAS) Business Pride Fair: Tuesday, January 20, 2026
- RRC Polytech Students' Association Career Fair - Notre Dame Campus: Wednesday, January 21, 2026
- RRC Polytech Students' Association Career Fair - Exchange District Campus: Thursday, January 22, 2026
- University of Manitoba Annual General Career Fair: Tuesday, January 27, 2026
- University of Manitoba Annual General Career Fair: Wednesday, January 28, 2026
- University of Winnipeg Career Fair: Thursday, January 29, 2026
We post the career fairs we’ll be attending at winnipeg.ca/careers. If you’re not a student at one of the above schools, be sure to check back throughout the year to find out where we’ll be.
What to expect at our booth
Our team will be there to chat about our current job opportunities and the career paths that are available at the City of Winnipeg. We can also help you with advice on how to succeed in the application process.
If you’re not sure what type of job you’re looking for, we can help you with advice on how to get your foot in the door with an entry-level summer job to help you gain experience.
If you have a specific career in mind, we can talk about the specific qualifications you’ll need to land that job.
We don’t accept paper resumes at the booth, but if you have one with you, we can provide some quick feedback. Your resume and cover letter are your first impression with recruiters, so it’s important that they help us understand how you’ll be a good fit.
“We accept applications online, and you can search our website for current job postings,” said Todd Demers, one of our Talent Acquisition Specialists. "A separate application needs to be submitted for each job you’re interested in. It’s important to remember to customize your resume for each application, showing how you meet the specific qualifications."
How to prepare
The best thing you can do ahead of a career fair is go to our website and do a little bit of research on who we are and what we do.
“Our website has so much information about the work the City does across the different departments,” said Demers. "You can find all our job postings at winnipeg.ca/careers. We’re always posting new jobs, so we recommend you check back often."
If you come to us with specific questions, we can provide in-depth information that will help set you up for success.
See you on campus
Whatever your passion is, we probably have an option for you. So come introduce yourself! We’re looking forward to meeting with you and helping you figure out how to start a career with the City.
