Workplace safety is important, and we take it seriously.
Our team at the Winnipeg Fleet Management Agency (WFMA) helped make critical safety upgrades at the City-owned Rainbow Stage in Kildonan Park this spring.
“I’m very proud of the work my team completed this spring,” said Dave Gaudreau, the supervisor of the WFMA machine shop. “The upgrades improve safety just in time for pre-production and rehearsals set to begin at the theatre.”
WFMA staff built a railing, ladder, and handrails to help ensure safe access to the outdoor theatre’s rooftop and lighting bridge.
All the work was custom-built at their machine shop, and then installed on-site.
Backstage, a new staircase and decking was added for catwalk access above the stage, including guard rails and plates to cover wires.
“These upgrades are just a couple of examples of the work our crews are undertaking to ensure people are safe when they work in or visit City facilities,” said Karl Thordarson, the supervisor or Park Services North.
This fall, more safety upgrades are scheduled to be completed at the Rainbow Stage.
