Transit announces changes to service for Monday, June 9 Bomber exhibition game at Investors Group Field

Winnipeg, MB - As a result of a new game day transportation plan, Winnipeg Transit today announced several changes to Transit service for the Monday, June 9 exhibition game at Investors Group Field.

Key changes include:

  • Regular Transit fares will be collected on all Winnipeg Transit service to the June 9 exhibition game. This also applies to Handi-Transit service. Fares may be paid in cash (exact fare), Transit tickets or passes. Transit fare information is available at Winnipeg Transit - Fares
  • Post-game passengers can show their game day ticket for a free ride home when boarding at Investors Group Field.
  • Park & Ride services will now be operated using school buses, and will commence two hours prior to game time.
    • For the Monday, June 9 exhibition game, Park & Ride locations will operate at no charge. A complete list of Park & Ride locations can be found at bluebombers.com
    • The June 9 exhibition game will use only school buses for Park & Ride service departing the game and as a result, Riders should exercise patience while loading.

The following Winnipeg Transit services remain unchanged and will be offered as follows:

  • Extra pregame day service
    • Route 161 will operate at 15 minute intervals, beginning 90 minutes before the June 9 game. Service will operate from Downtown to Investors Group Field making all stops in the Downtown and along the Transitway before running non-stop from Jubilee to the stadium.
    • The last 161 to Investors Group Field will leave Balmoral Station 30 minutes before the event or game is scheduled to begin.
    • Extra route 161 service will not operate after the game however passengers can catch Route 160 buses post-game to Downtown.
  • Regular service to Investors Group Field
    • Winnipeg Transit has several regular routes that will operate to and from the University of Manitoba before and after the game or special event. Winnipeg Transit reminds all passengers to check their bus schedules before leaving. Routes include:
      • 60 Pembina
      • 75 Crosstown East
      • 78 Crosstown West
      • 160 Downtown - University of Manitoba
      • 162 Downtown - Ft. Richmond (U of M) - St. Norbert Express
      • 170 Downtown - Ft. Richmond (U of M) - St. Norbert
  • The Running Back Shuttle will operate pre-game only. There is no charge for this service. Information on the Shuttle is available at bluebombers.com
  • Post-Game Service
    • All Park & Ride Super Express service and extra service on routes 75, 78 (via Cambridge and via Kenaston) and 160 will be lined up on Chancellor Matheson heading west towards Pembina. Route 162/170 can be caught at its regular stop - University Crescent at Freedman.
    • Wayfinding signage will be posted at Investors Group Field to help you find where to board your bus. Riders should look for these signs:

      Event Day Buses

    • Transit Supervisors will be on scene to help riders who need assistance in locating where to catch their bus home.

Similar to past events at Investors Group Field, Winnipeg Police Service members will be providing traffic control at strategic locations. Cyclists, motorists, and pedestrians are reminded to follow wayfinding signage and obey all traffic control signage.
