Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party street closures & transit reroutes - Round 1, games 1 & 2

Winnipeg, MB – To accommodate the Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party, along with associated set-up and take-down, the following streets will be closed from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10 until 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, and again from 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12 until 6:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13:

  • Southbound Donald Street between Portage Avenue and St. Mary Avenue
  • Graham Avenue between Carlton Street and Garry Street
  • Northbound Smith Street will be closed to through traffic between St. Mary Avenue and Portage Avenue; however, access to the Millennium Parkade entrance from St. Mary Avenue and the Radisson Hotel Parkade from the back lane south of Portage Avenue will be maintained

Motorists should allow additional travel time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes such as Main Street and Osborne Street.

Millennium Library & Millennium Library Parkade

The Millennium Library will be closing early on Wednesday, April 10 at 4:30 p.m.

As a result of the street closure, the Donald Street entrance to and exit from the Millennium Library Parkade will not be accessible from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10 until 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, and again from 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12 until 6:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13. All vehicles will need to enter and exit the parkade through the Smith Street entrance. The stairwell doors at street level to the parkade will be locked at 10 a.m. on April 10, and at 11:30 a.m. on April 12, and entrance to the parkade will be accessible only through the skywalk during this time.

During the street closures, access to the Millennium Library will only be available through the skywalk or through the parkade.

Winnipeg Transit & Winnipeg Transit Plus

Winnipeg Transit buses will be rerouted off of Graham Avenue from Carlton Street to Garry Street beginning 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10 until 2 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, and again at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12 until 2 a.m. on Saturday, April 13.

During these reroutes, bus stops along Graham Avenue eastbound between Hargrave Street and Smith Street will be temporarily relocated to eastbound York Avenue at Donald Street and to northbound Smith Street at Graham Avenue. Bus stops along westbound Graham Avenue between Smith Street and Edmonton Street will be temporarily relocated to westbound St. Mary Avenue at Donald Street and to northbound Edmonton Street mid-block between St. Mary Avenue and Graham Avenue.

During the reroutes, the Winnipeg Transit Plus loading zone on southbound Donald Street at Graham Avenue will be temporarily relocated to eastbound Portage Avenue next to the Radisson Hotel. The Millennium Library Winnipeg Transit Plus loading zone will be temporarily relocated to the eastbound front driveway of the Winnipeg Police Service headquarters, and the City Place Winnipeg Transit Plus loading zone will be relocated to northbound Hargrave Street on the north side of St. Mary Avenue.
