Winnipeg, MB – Councillor Matt Allard (St. Boniface) has been appointed to Executive Policy Committee (EPC) replacing outgoing member Councillor Marty Morantz (Charleswood-Tuxedo-Whyte Ridge) Mayor Brian Bowman announced today.

“I want to thank Councillor Morantz for the commitment and time he has devoted to serving as an EPC member,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “An important part of serving on EPC is demonstrating leadership and collaboration that transcends ward boundaries in the best interest of building a city we can all be proud of. I can say without hesitation that while being devoted to serving his ward residents, Councillor Morantz has contributed significantly to building a better, stronger, and more fiscally disciplined city for all residents.”

“I also want to welcome Councillor Allard to EPC,” said Mayor Bowman. “I have enjoyed working with Councillor Allard in his role as Acting Deputy Mayor, and look forward to working with him on EPC to continue building upon the many positive changes achieved over the last several years, and continue managing the infrastructure needs of a growing city while also ensuring fiscal discipline.”

Councillor Allard will assume responsibility as Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works. He will retain responsibility for existing liaison and secretary positions including Liaison for Intermodal Connectivity, Francophone Liaison, Secretary of the End Homelessness Strategies, and Liaison for Labour Relations. Councillor Cindy Gilroy (Daniel McIntyre) will assume responsibility of Acting Deputy Mayor.

No further changes are being made to standing policy committee responsibilities or Council liaison responsibilities. With the changes noted above, Executive Policy Committee will be represented by:

  • Councillor Matt Allard (St. Boniface): Chair of the Standing Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works
  • Councillor Cindy Gilroy (Daniel McIntyre): Chair of the Standing Committee on Innovation
  • Councillor Scott Gillingham (St. James-Brooklands-Weston): Chair of the Standing Committee on Finance

  • Councillor John Orlikow (River Heights-Fort Garry): Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Property and Development, Heritage and Downtown Development

"I look forward to working with all members of EPC and all Councillors as we continue to move Winnipeg forward,” said Mayor Bowman.
