Public strongly recommended to continue wearing masks in City facilities and on Winnipeg Transit and Winnipeg Transit Plus as of March 15

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is set to resume various in-person inspections in the coming weeks. Residents will be screened for symptoms prior to their appointments and City employees are required to wear a mask during their visit.

In advance of this, appointments can now be made for the majority of the following in-person services:

Community By-Law Enforcement Services

In-person interior residential property inspections are resuming on March 15. Inspections will continue to be offered to be completed through photos or via phone. Appointments cannot be pre-booked for this service.

Planning, Property & Development

In-person inspection appointments of occupied dwellings are resuming on March 15, with a virtual option still offered. Inspections of unoccupied homes were not impacted and are continuing as normal.

Water and Waste

In-person water meter reading and inspections, as well as water meter returns, removals, and replacements are resuming on March 15. Customers can provide water meter readings via phone 204-986-4445 or online at myutility.winnipeg.ca. Residents are reminded that they are responsible for providing regular water meter readings to avoid estimated bills.

Assessment & Taxation

In-person interior residential property inspections are resuming on April 15. Inspections will continue to be offered to be completed through photos or via phone.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Public Education Branch

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Public Education Branch will be resuming in-person presentations on fire safety, drug awareness, and injury/fall prevention as of March 15. The Fire Safety House will be available to attend school and community events beginning in May. For more information, educators and community groups can email the branch at fps-publiceducation@winnipeg.ca or call 204-986-6380.

Mask usage

The Province has indicated that they will be removing mask requirements from the provincial Public Health Orders effective March 15, however the City is going to continue to strongly recommend the use of masks in city facilities, along with on Winnipeg Transit beyond March 15. Mask requirements will remain in place for all City employees, including Winnipeg Transit Plus drivers, for the foreseeable future.

Other current health and safety measures in our workplaces, such as plexiglass barriers, physical distancing, encouraging the completion of the self-screening questionnaire before reporting to work, and employee symptomatic testing, will be maintained.
