Winnipeg, MB – At 10:41 a.m., on Saturday, November 13, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a gas leak at a vacant bungalow in the 100 block of Dobrinsky Drive.
When crews arrived on-scene, the smell of natural gas was detected outside the building.
Crews took a number of precautions to ensure the safety of residents. Traffic was closed in both directions, hose lines were deployed, and occupants of seven houses were notified and temporarily evacuated.
Manitoba Hydro attended the scene and shut off gas and hydro to the building, and hydro to surrounding homes. When gas readings dropped to safe levels, WFPS crews entered the building to conduct a precautionary search. No occupants were found and no injuries were reported.
Manitoba Hydro is working to complete repairs.
