Winnipeg, MB – Today, the City of Winnipeg announced that 23 community groups will receive funding for safety and crime prevention activities through the Community Safety and Crime Prevention (CSCP) program.

“The Community Safety and Crime Prevention program continues to make a difference in our communities by offering support to organizations that are strengthening public safety,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “I’m grateful for these vital community groups, that offer key services to our city, and are taking initiative to reduce crime and make safer neighbourhoods.”

"These grants fund important community defined safety work,” said Sherri Rollins, Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Protection, Community Services and Parks. “All of the groups receiving funding make a difference for our neighbourhoods and I’m thankful for each one of them.”

The CSCP program was established three years ago to support community-level activities that strengthen local crime prevention and community safety efforts, promote the exchange of information between community residents, and help build closer relationships between communities and the Winnipeg Police Service. A total of $100,000 was made available through the program, with projects approved to a maximum of $5,000 per application.
