City of Winnipeg resuming various in-person inspections and other services

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is set to resume a number of services, in accordance with the Provincial Public Health Orders.

Smoke Alarm for Every Family (S.A.F.E.) Program

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service has resumed in-home installations of smoke alarms as part of the SAFE Family Program. Residents can apply online or by contacting 311.

Living Prairie Museum

The interpretive centre at Living Prairie Museum is reopening tomorrow, August 14, 2021, under limited capacity. Public guided hikes are also resuming on Tuesdays and are available for groups of up to 10 individuals. Please call the museum at 204-832-0167 to register in advance.

In-person inspections

Effective September 7, 2021, various in-person inspections will be resuming. Residents will be screened for symptoms prior to their appointments and City employees are required to wear a mask during their visit.

In advance of this, appointments can be made beginning August 16, 2021 for the majority of the following in-person services:

Assessment & Taxation

In-person interior residential property inspections are resuming. Inspections will continue to be offered to be completed through photos or via phone.

Community By-Law Enforcement Services

In-person interior residential property inspections are resuming. Inspections will continue to be offered to be completed through photos or via phone. Appointments cannot be pre-booked for this service.

Planning, Property & Development

In-person inspection appointments of occupied dwellings are resuming, with a virtual option still offered through Permits Online, where available. Inspections of unoccupied homes were not impacted and are continuing as normal.

Water and Waste

In-person water meter reading and inspections, as well as water meter returns, removals, and replacements are resuming. Customers can provide water meter readings via phone 204-986-4445 or online at myutility.winnipeg.ca. Residents are reminded that they are responsible for providing regular water meter readings to avoid estimated bills.
