Winnipeg, MB – Statement from Mayor Bowman:
“We have added another item to the agenda for the Emergency Meeting of City Council on August 31, 2020: the extension of property and business tax deferrals until the end of November.
We know that the ongoing global pandemic continues to have a detrimental economic impact on numerous sectors of the economy, and that the Conference Board of Canada is now predicting that economic activity will not return to pre-COVID-19 levels until the second half of 2021.
The motion is proposing extending the deferral period to assist businesses and property owners as they do their best to manage the economic impact the pandemic is having.
Please direct any questions to Finance Chair, Councillor Scott Gillingham.”
