Winnipeg, MB – Mayor Bowman will be traveling to Leduc, Alberta to take part in a meeting of the Western Economic Solutions Taskforce (WEST) on Monday. The Taskforce was struck in November of last year as a response to the economic downturn facing western communities.
“During a time when feelings of western alienation have resurfaced, it is important that municipal leaders are working together to ensure western voices are heard while keeping our nation unified,” said Mayor Bowman.
The Taskforce brings together western municipal leaders with the goal of representing western interests in Ottawa. It is a cooperative effort between the Big City Mayors’ Caucus Mayors of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, provincial municipal associations and the Union of BC Municipalities.
