Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to five structure fires last night.
Inkster Boulevard Fire
At 9:46 p.m. on October 31, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a one-storey, single-family home in the 900 block of Inkster Boulevard.
When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, quickly declaring the fire under control at 10:10 p.m.
All occupants of the home self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. Paramedics assessed one patient on scene and transported the patient to hospital in stable condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.
Pritchard Avenue Fire
At 10:13 p.m. on October 31, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in one-and-a-half storey, single-family home in the 500 block of Pritchard Avenue.
Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack and declared the fire under control at 11:19 p.m.
Firefighters located and rescued one patient during the primary search. Paramedics treated and transported the patient to hospital in critical condition.
The home sustained extensive damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.
St. Mary’s Road Fire
At 11:08 p.m. on October 31, the WFPS responded to reports of a silo on fire in the 3000 block of St. Mary’s Road.
Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered flames coming from the silo. Crews used water tankers to shuttle water to the scene, as the silo is outside the City of Winnipeg water district. The fire was declared under control at 12:13 a.m. on November 1, 2019.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.
Roblin Boulevard Fire
At 12:22 a.m. on November 1, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a single-family, one-and-a-half storey home in the 5700 block of Roblin Boulevard. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy, black smoke coming from the home.
Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 1:19 a.m. Crews conducted a search of the home and no occupants were located.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.
Burrows Avenue Fire
At 1:10 a.m. on November 1, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a single-family, two-storey home in the 300 block of Burrows Avenue.
Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the home and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 1:32 a.m.
One occupant self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.
