Winnipeg, MB – At 9:48 p.m. on October 29, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, single-level house in the 0-100 block of Marshall Crescent.
When crews arrived, they encountered a well-involved fire with heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. Crews employed a defensive attack using a ladder truck until they could safely fight the fire from inside the house. The fire was declared under control at 11:03 p.m. The house sustained extensive damage.
Crews conducted a search of the house and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported. Neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution, but those occupants have since returned to their homes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
