Winnipeg, MB - At 8:37 p.m. on August 5, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant bungalow in the 600 block of Beverley Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke coming from the structure and launched an offensive attack. At 8:55 p.m. the fire was declared under control.
Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.
At 3 a.m. on August 6, 2019, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a two and a half storey home in the 200 block of Spence Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews launched an offensive attack and very quickly brought the fire under control.
Occupants of the home had self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. One individual was assessed by paramedics on scene but did not require transport to hospital. No other injuries were reported. Firefighters located one cat in the residence, turning it over to its owner.
The cause of both fires is under investigation, and no damage estimates are available at this time.
