Indoor splash pad first of its kind at City of Winnipeg facility

Winnipeg, MB – Today, members of the community celebrated the grand opening of the City of Winnipeg’s new indoor splash pad at the renovated Seven Oaks Pool (444 Adsum Dr.).

The renovated Seven Oaks Pool has several new features to enhance the guest experience. In addition to the brand new indoor splash pad with water slides and interactive water features – the first of its kind in a City-run facility – other features include updated family change rooms, universally-accessible washrooms, an enhanced public lobby, a new meeting space, and a small accessible teach pool.

"Our government believes that investments in the Seven Oaks Pool will improve the health and wellness of people in North West Winnipeg while providing space for people of all ages to have access to high quality leisure facilities," said Nic Curry, MLA for Kildonan on behalf of Municipal Relations Minister Jeff Wharton. “This pool is a wonderful asset to the neighbourhood and will provide recreational opportunities for years to come.”

“This is an extremely exciting day for Winnipeg residents, and I’m very happy to welcome families to the City’s first indoor splash pad at the renovated Seven Oaks Pool,” said Councillor Devi Sharma, Old Kildonan. “The updated amenities will inspire fun and physical activity for people of all ages, and the accessibility features will foster a welcoming environment for all.”

The Seven Oaks Pool project, including the splash pad, cost a total of $9.7 million. The Government of Canada contributed $500,000 towards the project through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program. The City received $1,021,428 through the Province of Manitoba’s Building Communities Initiative (BCI) II funding program. The remainder of the project’s costs was funded by the City.

To celebrate the new indoor splash pad and renovated facility, the City is offering free admission to Seven Oaks Pool from March 28 - 30, 2019 during regular operating hours.
