WINNIPEG, May 14, 2015 - In a ceremony at City Hall today, Mayor Brian Bowman presented the 2015 Mayor’s BIZ Awards to recognize and celebrate the contributions Winnipeggers and organizations have made to enhance their local Business Improvement Zone.
“BIZ zones are a key player in growing a vibrant and thriving Winnipeg, and the annual Mayor’s BIZ Awards are a way to show our gratitude for the positive impact Winnipeggers are making in our BIZ zones and in our community,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “Congratulations to all of the recipients of the Mayor’s BIZ Awards today, and thank you for helping to make Winnipeg a place we are all proud to call home.”
The annual Mayor’s BIZ Awards acknowledge contributions to BIZ zones through marketing, special events and promotions, as well as area beautification and safety, among other areas. The 2015 Mayor’s BIZ Award recipients are:

- Barry Nacci - Norwood Grove B.I.Z.
- Trevor Linney - Old St. Vital B.I.Z.
- Pollocks Hardware Store - Osborne South B.I.Z.
- Donna Lagopoulos - Osborne Village B.I.Z.
- Dan Vandal - Provencher Blvd B.I.Z.
- Tracy Wilkie - St. James Village B.I.Z.
- Normand Gousseau - St. Norbert B.I.Z.
- Community Services Department, By-law Enforcement Division - Selkirk Avenue B.I.Z.
- Reg Wyatt - Transcona B.I.Z.
- David Reid - West Broadway B.I.Z.
- Take Pride! Winnipeg - West End B.I.Z.
Almost 5,000 businesses are represented among the 16 Business Improvement Zones in Winnipeg. Each zone has its own mandate and mission statement, but all work toward enhancing their zone for business members. The Downtown B.I.Z. was established in 1989 as the first BIZ zone, while the St. Norbert B.I.Z. is the most recent addition.
