Winnipeg, MB – On March 27, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two residential fires.
Main Street
At 1:43 p.m. the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a four-storey building in the 600 block of Main Street. Due to the life safety risks associated with a four-storey building, an additional complement was dispatched to the scene.
At the scene, crews saw smoke in the building. Firefighters attacked the fire from inside and declared it under control at 2:04 p.m. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
Arnold Avenue
At 7:31 p.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half-storey home in the 400 block of Arnold Avenue.
At the scene, crews saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. Firefighters attacked the fire from outside the building because it was unsafe to enter. Crews will remain on scene until the fire is under control and the scene is safe.
All occupants safely self-evacuated from the home before crews arrived. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available, but the structure has sustained significant smoke, fire and water damage.
