Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and to use extreme caution when driving near heavy equipment

Winnipeg, MB – A major, city-wide snow clearing operation is in progress. Crews are plowing major streets, sidewalks, active transportation pathways, and back lanes based on the priority system. Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and to use extreme caution when driving near heavy equipment.

Residents are reminded that there are no winter parking bans in effect at this time.

How to stay informed on snow clearing operations

We have a number of resources available to help residents to stay up-to-date on our snow clearing operations. Residents can download the official Know Your Zone app for free at the Apple App Store and Google Play App Store, and save their favourite addresses to get information on parking bans and to receive notifications ahead of snow clearing operations on their street.

The City also offers email notifications which advise subscribers when parking bans are declared.

Residents can also access an interactive snow clearing status map to check on the progress of our crews during major plowing operations and during residential plowing operations by searching an address and viewing the percentage completed.

During a major plowing operation, residents will be able to search an address, view the percentage completed by geographic area for main routes (Priority 1 or P1) and bus routes and collector streets (Priority 2 or P2), as well as sidewalks and pathways.

If the snow clearing status map displays that an area has been completed, but a street, sidewalk, or pathway was missed, residents can report the location using the quick and convenient snow removal request form , which provides all the information needed to process a service request. Residents can also request sanding on slippery roads, sidewalks, and pathways by reporting a location using the sanding request form.

Residents can also view street priority active transportation route priority , and sidewalk priority on searchable maps.

The City also shares information about snow clearing and ice control operations via Facebook Twitter , and Instagram .
