Winnipeg, MB – At 4:36 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment building in the 400 block of Furby Street.
When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered smoke coming from the building. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 4:59 a.m. The building suffered fire, smoke, and water damage.
Occupants of the building safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews, and no injuries were reported. The City’s Emergency Social Services were called to assist approximately 20 displaced occupants in finding temporary accommodations.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
