Winnipeg, MB – At 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 800 block of Alfred Avenue.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 12:27 p.m.
Occupants of the building safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. Crews located one cat in the house. The animal was brought out and provided with oxygen using a specialized animal mask but it could not be revived.
The City’s Emergency Social Services were called to assist the displaced residents in finding temporary accommodations.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
