Winnipeg, MB – Today, the City of Winnipeg announced that 23 community groups will receive funding for safety and crime prevention activities through the City of Winnipeg’s Community Safety and Crime Prevention (CSCP) program.
“It’s great to see the Community Safety and Crime Prevention program continuing to make a difference through support for community organizations,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “This program prioritizes prevention and community safety through the organizations that are already making a difference in their neighbourhoods. This presents an opportunity for unique solutions that can strengthen public safety in our community.”
The CSCP program was established to support community-level activities that strengthen local crime prevention and community safety efforts, promote the exchange of information between community residents, and that help build closer relationships between communities and the Winnipeg Police Service. A total of $100,000 was made available through the program, with projects approved to a maximum of $5,000 per application.

The City received 37 applications during the 2020 intake period. Program applications were evaluated by a Program Award Selection Committee. The committee was comprised of four representatives from the Community Services Department, one representative from the Winnipeg Committee for Safety, and one representative from the Winnipeg Police Service. They established evaluation criteria to determine eligibility and to assess the activity’s need and potential benefit to the community.
