Living Prairie Museum offering spring planting workshops

If you are a gardener, there are plenty of options when it comes to deciding what to plant. The Living Prairie Museum is hoping you’ll consider including some prairie species in your landscaping.

To make that a little easier, the museum is offering four prairie planting workshops through the spring with prairie ecologist and restoration expert John Morgan.

  • Introduction to Using Native Manitoba Wildflowers and Grasses in your Landscape – Thursday, April 11, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  • Propagating, Planting, and Seeding Native Manitoba Wildflowers – Saturday, April 13, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

  • Managing your Native Manitoba Landscape and Resources for Native Plant Information – Thursday, April 25, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  • Manitoba Wildflowers, Grasses, and Shrubs from A to Z – Saturday, May 4, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The sessions will guide people through site preparation, seed germination, and planting for flower beds or larger prairie restorations.

All of the workshops will take place in-person at the Living Prairie Museum (2795 Ness Ave.).

The price per workshop is $15 plus GST. Members of the Friends of the Living Prairie Museum can register at a reduced rate of $10 plus GST.
