Winnipeg, MB – At 3:38 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment building in the 1000 block of Selkirk Avenue.
When crews arrived to the scene they found smoke coming from the building. They entered and fought the fire from inside, declaring it under control at 4:12 p.m. Fire damage was contained to the suite where the fire originated.
One individual evacuated from the fire suite by jumping from an upper-floor window. That person was transported to hospital in stable condition. Other occupants of the building safely self-evacuated. No other injuries were reported.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
