On January 27, 2023, at approximately 11:52 a.m., an East District Community Support Unit observed a vehicle driven by a male known to be a gang member with a history of drug trafficking. He was also known to be a suspended driver, and a traffic stop was conducted a traffic stop in the area of Brazier Street and Syndey Avenue.
The driver and his lone passenger were taken into custody and found to be in possession of a number of items, including the following:
- 121 assorted opioid tablets (with an estimated street value of $1,210)
- $6,745 in Canadian currency
A 25-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Hydromorphone
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
A 49-year-old male of East St. Paul is facing charges of:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Hydromorphone
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
Both were released on Undertakings (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
