Residential Parking Ban remains in effect until Saturday at 7:00 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB - The Public Works Department is closely monitoring the weather system approaching the city and will adjust snow clearing operations as needed based on road conditions and accumulation of snow. Sanding trucks will be deployed to improve traction on the roadway and, if required, plowing will initially focus on main routes.

Residential plowing operation
The Residential Parking Ban remains in effect until Saturday morning. Plowing is currently taking place on residential streets in snow zone A and plows will head to zone E from 7:00 p.m. tonight until 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. Vehicles parked in violation of the Residential Parking Ban may receive a $150 ticket ($75 if paid early), and may be towed to a nearby street that is not scheduled to be plowed, or has already been cleared. If you believe your vehicle may have been towed due to the Residential Parking Ban, please contact 311 for assistance in locating it. For more information visit knowyourzone.winnipeg.ca

Annual Snow Route Parking Ban
Please note the Annual Snow Route Parking Ban which prohibits parking on snow routes between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. is also in effect until March 1.

Snow plowing operations update
The goal is to complete any outstanding back lane plowing today. Sidewalk plowing is also continuing until complete. As well, high pile relocation and hauling will continue throughout the weekend in order to improve sight lines at intersections.

The Kenaston Snow Disposal Site will be closed at noon today, December 30, 2016, as it has reached its capacity so will be closed to the public for the remainder of this winter season.

Think safety this winter - Stay Back, Stay Safe
Approximately 400 - 450 pieces of heavy equipment will be used for this snow clearing operation so motorists are reminded to drive to winter road conditions at all times and to use extreme caution when driving near any plowing or sanding equipment.
