Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to HazMat Incident on Scurfield Boulevard

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:46 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a hazardous material spill at an industrial building on Scurfield Boulevard.

The WFPS HazMat unit and a specially-trained HazMat crew were deployed to the scene. Using specialized equipment and personal protective equipment they entered the building and mitigated the incident, ensuring the building was safe for occupants.

Two individuals were injured by the spill. They were assessed by paramedics and transported to hospital, both in stable condition.

The incident will be investigated by Workplace Safety and Health.
