Strongarm Robbery - Arrests: C23-15275

Released: January 25, 2023 at 4:03 p.m.

On January 19, 2023, at approximately 10:40 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to Chancellor Drive and Pembina Highway for the report of a female who was assaulted and robbed at knifepoint while waiting for a transit bus.

General Patrol officers from the West District, assisted by a K-9 unit, attended and located an 18-year-old female victim who had sustained upper-body injuries from being assaulted. She was transported to hospital in stable condition and treated for her injuries. The suspects fled on foot after the assault before police arrived.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and identified two female suspects.

On January 24, at approximately 11:45 p.m., investigators located both suspects in a residence in the Wedgewood Drive neighbourhood and placed them under arrest without incident.

Through their investigation, investigators learned the suspects approached the victim as she was waiting for a transit bus when they physically assaulted her in an unprovoked manner and robbed her of her wallet and cellular phone. A knife was brandished by one of the suspects during the incident. The wallet was recovered nearby by K-9 members and returned to the victim.

Investigators also linked the suspects to a strongarm robbery on November 2, 2022, at a bus stop in the 2000 block of Pembina Highway. In this incident, it was learned the suspects robbed a 30-year-old victim of her purse at knifepoint and later used her debit card to purchase merchandise. The victim was uninjured.

- Robbery x 2
- Use of Credit Card

A 19-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
