Traffic Stop/Weapons Arrests: C24-76230

On April 7, at approximately 11:45 a.m., patrolling Central District General Patrol conducted a traffic stop at Sherbrook Street and Elgin Avenue on a taxi vehicle after observing three occupants not wearing seatbelts contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Officers addressing the HTA infractions identified one of the three suspects as having an active warrant of arrest in his name. When removing the male from the taxi, officers observed evidence of drug trafficking and removed all occupants from the vehicle. The three suspects, two adult males and an adult female were extracted from the taxi and placed under arrest to conduct their drug investigation.

Officers searched the suspects and the vehicle, seizing the following items as evidence:

- A sawed-off Lever Action Rifle

- A CO²-powered handgun

- Brass Knuckles

- Body Armour

- A canister of bear spray

- A 4” Folding Knife

- Approximately 20 Grams Crack Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $2,000)

- Approximately 3 Grams of Fentanyl (Estimated Street Value = $450)

- Packaging Materials

- Approximately $775 in CDN funds

Corey Nelson AMYOTTE, 37, Matthew Leland Xavier ROULETTE, 21, and Lakeisha Shayanne LATHLIN, 27, all of Winnipeg, are charged with multiple firearms, weapons, scheduled substances, and proceeds of crime-related charges. In addition, all three were provided with appropriate Provincial Offence Act documents regarding the HTA infractions.

All three were detained in custody.
