Update – Homicide Investigation Arrests: C24-34963

On February 15, 2024, at approximately 2:40 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 300 block of Magnus Avenue for the report of armed males present within a multi-room residence.

The suspects forced entry into the suite while armed with weapons, which included a firearm. The suspects confronted an occupant and then discharged the firearm at the victim, causing fatal injuries.

The victim has been identified as Mitchell Michael HANSLIP, 26 years, a member of Lake Manitoba First Nation, residing in Winnipeg.

General Patrol officers from multiple districts, assisted by Flight Operations (Air1), attended and located three suspects in the process of fleeing from the residence, one of whom was in possession of a firearm. All were placed under arrest without incident.

The investigation continued by members of the Homicide Unit.

Isaiah Adrian MOOSE, 23, Sydney Vain MOOSE, 22 and Ashtan Cole PETERS, 28 years, have been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and detained in custody.

- Possession of a Weapon

- Possession of Firearm Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

MOOSE, 22

- Possession of Firearm Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

Peters, 28

- Possession of Firearm Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 4

- Fail to Comply with Probation Order

On February 15, 2024, at approximately 2:40 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 300 block of Magnus Avenue for the report of armed males present within a multi-room residence.

General Patrol officers from multiple districts, assisted by Flight Operations (Air1), attended and located three suspects in the process of fleeing from the residence, one of whom was in possession of a firearm. All were placed under arrest without incident. Officers located a deceased adult male within the suite, and his death is being treated as a homicide. An autopsy is pending.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.
