On December 6, 2023, at approximately 2:55 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a business in the 600 block of Main Street for the report of a male who had been stabbed.
Central District General Patrol officers attended the business where a 39-year-old male victim was receiving emergency medical care. He was transported to hospital in stable condition. An adult male suspect fled before police arrived.
The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and, through their investigation, learned that the victim was standing on the sidewalk when the suspect approached him. A verbal confrontation began and escalated, with the suspect producing a sharp-edged weapon and stabbing the victim unprovoked. The suspect fled on foot while the victim attended a nearby business for assistance.
On December 7, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was advised that the suspect believed to be involved in the incident had returned to the same location. Central General Patrol officers attended and arrested the suspect without incident.
The victim and suspect were not previously known to one another.
