Weapons – Arrest: C23-255429

Released: December 5, 2023 at 12:36 p.m.

On December 3, 2023, at approximately 4:50 a.m., patrolling General Patrol officers of the Winnipeg Police Service conducted a traffic stop at the Isabel Street and Alexander Avenue intersection in the city's North End.

While conducting their investigation regarding Highway Traffic Act infractions, officers observed a canister of bear spray repellant in plain view within the vehicle's cabin. Officers extracted three adult male occupants and arrested them without incident.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found a loaded 9mm Glock-styled handgun with a 3D-printed receiver containing 9mm rounds of ammunition. The weapons and ammunition were seized as evidence.

 A 23-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

- Possession of a Weapon x 3

He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.

Dillon Riley BARKER, 27, of Winnipeg, is charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

- Possession of a Weapon x 2

Brent Scott McCANN, 33, of Winnipeg, is charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon or restricted Firearm with Ammunition

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle

- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3

- Possession of a Weapon x 2

Both were detained in custody.
