Firearms and Drug Arrests: C23-282803

Released: November 23, 2023 at 6:44 a.m.

On November 21, 2023, at approximately 8:10 p.m., West District General Patrol, the Tactical Support Team and members of the Canine Unit responded to a gun incident at a lounge in the 600 block of Pembina Highway.

Prior to police arrival, an argument and altercation erupted between two male suspects and a 27-year-old male victim over a VLT machine. As a result, the suspects threatened to shoot up the lounge and fled the business.

A short time later, three suspects returned while armed with a firearm. No one was injured, and the suspects fled in a vehicle.

Due to the coordinated efforts of numerous police resources, the vehicle and suspects were quickly located in the 800 block of Weatherdon Avenue. The involved males were arrested without incident.

As a result of the investigation involving members of the Majors Crimes Unit and the Organized Crime Unit, the vehicle was searched, and the following was located and seized:

- 2 kilograms of cocaine - estimated street value $60,000

- 1 ounce of fentanyl – estimated street value $3000

- 100 oxycontin tablets – estimated street value $4000

- Approximately $10,000 Canadian currency

- 2 x 3D printed handguns and ammunition (one firearm was loaded)

A 21-year-old male, a 19-year-old male, and an 18-year-old male have been charged with the following: 

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 2

- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition x 2

- Possession of a loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle x 2

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 3

- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

- Uttering Threats

- Possession of a Weapon x 2

The three suspects were detained in custody.
