Explosives Arrest: C23-200244

Released: August 20, 2023 at 10:59 a.m.

On August 18, 2023, at approximately 5:05 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a suite in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue for the report of numerous Molotov Cocktails being stored at this location.

Attending General Patrol officers from the North District immediately observed a strong smell of kerosene from the suite causing an immediate public safety concern.

Officers located four Molotov Cocktails and a quantity of kerosene. A male resident was then taken into custody.

Members of the Bomb Unit attended and safely removed the explosives.

Brendan HINES, 34 years, of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following:

- Unlawful Possession of Explosives x 4

- Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order x 4

He was detained in custody
