Released: August 14, 2023 at 11:54 a.m.

On August 11, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a serious motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle at the intersection of McGillivray Boulevard and Beaumont Street.

Members of the Traffic Division and officers from the West District attended and assisted an off-duty member already on the scene. A 28-year-old male suffered serious bodily injuries and was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced deceased.

Members of the Traffic Division assumed the investigation and family notifications have been made.

Through its investigation, investigators learned the motorcycle was traveling westbound on McGillivray Boulevard from Pembina Highway when it collided with a vehicle at Beaumont Street, causing damage to both vehicles. The operator of the motorcycle suffered serious bodily injuries from which he succumbed. The occupants of the other involved vehicle were uninjured due to the collision.

Investigators believe the motorcycle rider's manner of driving is a significant contributing factor in the collision.

Anyone with information, including video or dash camera video footage regarding this incident, is asked to contact Traffic Division investigators at 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477 (TIPS) or online at winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
