Stabbings – Arrest: C23-56614

On March 10, 2023, at approximately 5:10 p.m., General Patrol Officers from the Central District responded to the report of two males in their 30s who were stabbed in the area of Portage Avenue and Smith Street.

The first report came from a retail store in the 200 block of Portage Avenue. The adult male victim was shopping when an unknown male inside the store confronted him with a knife, stabbed him and exited the store. 

Moments later, a second victim was walking eastbound and was confronted by the same suspect. After a brief conversation, the victim was stabbed, and the suspect fled on foot. 

Police were contacted regarding both incidents and located the suspect in an intoxicated state near Portage Avenue and Garry Street. Both victims were transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

Julius Kincaid KILBOURNE (28) of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:

- Aggravated Assault x 2

- Possession of a Weapon

He was detained in custody.
