Firearm – Arrest: C23-45522

Released: February 27, 2023 at 10:17 a.m.

On February 25, 2023, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a Traffic Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of Talbot Avenue when a vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign.

While police spoke to the driver, a female passenger began yelling erratically and exited the vehicle; a male passenger also exited and fled on foot. The driver was placed under arrest as a Prohibited Driver.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a loaded .45 calibre pistol. Both the driver and the female passenger were taken into custody.

Further investigation determined the firearm was stolen in a residential break-and-enter in 2019.

A 25-year-old male, Tyrell George DUMAS of Winnipeg, was charged with the following offences:

-  Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 3

- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition x 3

- Unauthorized Poss of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle x 3

- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime x 3

-  Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3

- Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited Pursuant to Federal or Provincial Act

-  Fail to Comply with Probation Order

 A 26-year-old female, Kate Mary ROSS of Winnipeg, was charged with the following offences:

- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2

- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2

- Breach of Recognizance

They were both detained in custody.
