Commercial Robbery – Arrest: C23-3509

Released: January 6, 2023 at 11:22 a.m.

On January 5, 2023, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a shopping mall in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue for a shoplifter armed with a firearm.

Mall security reported that when they confronted a female who had shoplifted a pair of shoes, she indicated she had a firearm and fled the mall.

Security followed the suspect outside from a distance. She turned and pointed a firearm at them and pulled the trigger, causing the victims to believe they had been shot at. She continued her escape, nobody was injured,

General Patrol officers from the East District, the Tactical Support Team and the K9 Unit responded and located the suspect outside a nearby store. She was safely taken into custody and turned over to the Major Crimes Unit.

A BB gun was seized, and the stolen merchandise was recovered.

Eternity Dawn MCCALLUM (21) of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:

- Robbery

- Discharge Air Gun or Pistol with Intent

- Pointing a Firearm

- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition

- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2

- Fail to Comply Probation Order

She was detained in custody.
