Robbery with Firearm – Arrest: C22-136

Released: January 24, 2022 at 8 a.m.

On January 1, 2022, police responded to a fight at a residential New Year's Eve party. Several people were involved in an argument that escalated to a physical melee outside.

The involved parties dispersed, with some retreating to the residence while others ran to a nearby hotel. A second confrontation occurred at the hotel when one female pointed a handgun at a male victim’s face, stole another female victim’s backpack, and fled on foot.

The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and later identified the female with the firearm.

On January 24, 2022, General Patrol officers from the West District located the female suspect while dealing with an unrelated matter. She was taken into custody and turned over to Major Crimes.

A 23-year-old female of Winnipeg was charged with:

- Robbery
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon
- Pointing a Firearm
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence

She was released on an Undertaking (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
