On January 21, 2022, at approximately 5:15 p.m., an adult male attended the Winnipeg Police Service Headquarters building and entered the front vestibule, where he began to act erratically.
The male’s behaviour escalated to punching and kicking at various doors and windows. He later pushed a panic button—causing an audible alarm to sound, at which time he aggressively brandished a knife while looking at police.
Officers were able to take the male into custody safely, and it is believed that methamphetamine use played a role in the incident.
A 27-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of:
- Possession of a Weapon
He was released on an Appearance Notice (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
