Sexual Assault – Arrest: C22-15037

Released: January 22, 2022 at 8 a.m.

On January 21, 2022, at 5:55 p.m., a Central District General Patrol unit responded to the area of Garry Street and Portage Avenue for a report of an assault. A caller had observed a male assaulting a female inside a bus shelter.

Upon arrival, officers took an adult male into custody. It is believed that the female victim (in her 50's) had been sitting in the shelter when the suspect entered and made a sexual comment towards her. He then exposed himself and began to assault her—at which time a passerby contacted police.

The victim and suspect were not previously known to each other, and she did not require transport to a hospital for her injuries.

A 38-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of:

- Sexual Assault
- Assault

He was released on an Appearance Notice (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
