2021 Festive Season Checkstop Program – Final Results

Impaired driving continues to be one of the leading criminal causes of death in Canada, yet it is 100% preventable.

Our message is simple - if you're under the influence of alcohol or drugs, DON’T DRIVE.

Final results:

  • Total of 2471 cars were stopped during high visibility set ups
  • 77 impaired drivers were processed by police
  • 368 Roadside breath tests were conducted. 49 of which produced readings that resulted in immediate roadside driving prohibitions.
  • 28 drivers were charged with Criminal Impaired Driving related charges.
  • 191 traffic offence tickets
  • Average blood alcohol concentration was twice the statutory limit (164 mg%) Highest = 330 mg%
  • Average age was 40 years old (youngest = 18 oldest = 66)
