On January 2, 2022, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Winnipeg Police received a report from security of two suspects trying door handles of vehicles in a parking lot in the 2400 block of McPhillips Street. A vehicle description was provided, and various police units responded, including K9, Air1, and General Patrol.
The vehicle (confirmed stolen) was located near Swailes Avenue and Sinclair Street. A male suspect was arrested by the vehicle, and a female was arrested a short distance away by a WPS K9 unit. The female was found to be in possession of pepper spray.
A vehicle search located an improvised firing device (commonly referred to as a ‘zip gun’), and ammunition.
A 26-year-old male faces charges of:
- Fail to Comply Conditions of Court Order x 2
- Fail to Comply with Probation x 2
- Possess Weapon
- Possess Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition
- Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
He was detained in custody.
A 28-year-old female faces charges of:
- Fail to Comply Conditions of Court Order x 2
- Possess Weapon x 2
- Possess Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition x 2
- Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited
She was detained in custody.
