Commercial Robbery – Arrest: C21-302489

Released: January 1, 2022 at 8 a.m.

On December 31, 2021, at 7:35 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service members responded to a business in the 900 block of Portage Avenue for a report of a male that had stabbed a security guard after attempting to steal.

Upon arrival, officers located the suspect restrained by the security guard and took him into custody. The security guard was transported to a hospital in stable condition, where he was treated and released.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation. It is believed that the suspect had stabbed the security guard with a drill bit after he was caught trying to steal jewelry.

Kurtis Adam Leclaire, a 34-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Robbery
- Possession of a Weapon
