Weapon Offence – Arrest: C21-296197

Released: December 22, 2021 at 8 a.m.

On December 21, 2021, at approximately 2:15 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a male yelling erratically and wielding a hammer in the outdoor space of Air Canada Park. The area was populated by numerous people who fled the area for safety.

The accused moved on to Portage Avenue and Donald Street, smashing out the glass of a Transit bus shelter. Again citizens in the area fled, and police were contacted. He subsequently entered a nearby hotel, swung the hammer at an on-duty security guard, then left the building.

Officers located the accused outside and safely took him into custody, recovering the weapon. Nobody was injured.

Charles Raymond Holke, a 44-year-old male of Winnipeg, was charged with:

- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon
- Mischief Under $5,000

He was detained in custody.
