Homicide – Arrest: C21-132929

Update:

Homicide investigators have made an arrest in the murder of Marlon CHAMBORRO-GONZALES.

On June 10, 2021, Michael Theodore Jay EDWARDS, 27, of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Second Degree Murder
- Possess Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possess Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order.

The accused was detained in custody.

As previously released:

On June 10, 2021, shortly after midnight, Central District officers responded to the 300 block of Kennedy Street for reports that someone had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers located a male lying outside who had been shot and was seriously injured. They provided emergency first-aid to this male; until he was transported by ambulance to hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased victim has been identified as Marlon Jose CHAMORRO-GONZALES, 48, of Winnipeg.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call the Homicide Unit 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
