Homicide – Public Assistance Requested: C20-242271

The Homicide Unit is asking the public for their help with locating a pair of suspects wanted for the death of Mohamed Mohiadin Ahmed, a 29-year-old male of Winnipeg.

On October 12, 2020, at approximately 8:00 a.m., a passerby had been walking their dog in the area of Churchill Drive and Hay Street when they noticed what appeared to be a deceased person in the Red River. Emergency personnel responded and recovered the body, which was later identified as Ahmed.

Members of the Homicide Unit began an investigation, and it was determined that Ahmed had been murdered at a residence in the Fort Garry area just days earlier.

On January 19, 2021, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a plea to the public for help with locating a suspect: Jesse James Daher, a 28-year-old male of Winnipeg.

Daher is described as white, 6’3” tall, approximately 155 lbs in weight and has a thin build. He has green eyes and is believed to have a shaved head or short brown hair.

Daher is still outstanding.

Today, February 10, 2021, investigators are releasing the name of a second suspect: Evan Daniel Bill Brightnose-Baker, a 21-year-old male of Winnipeg.

Brightnose-Baker is described as Indigenous, 5’5” tall, approximately 126 lbs in weight and has a medium build. He has brown eyes and is believed to have black hair.

Both males are wanted on Canada-wide warrants for Second-Degree Murder and are considered to be armed and dangerous. The public is cautioned not to approach them.

Anyone with information regarding there whereabouts is asked to call 911. Additional information that may assist investigators can be relayed to the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
