Homicide – Arrest Update: C20-171330

Released: January 25, 2021 at 8 a.m.

As previously released: On July 21, 2020, a male identified as Cody Alexander SLEIGH, 31, was located in the 1000 block of Main Street suffering from gunshot wounds. On July 23, 2020 he succumbed to his injuries.

The Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit continued the investigation. SLEIGH, originally from British Columbia, had been residing in Winnipeg at the time of his death.

Two suspects in his murder were identified and believed to have left Winnipeg and returned to British Columbia.

On September 7, 2020, Kleon Cassidy POP, 32, of British Columbia, was arrested in Williams Lake, B.C. He was subsequently returned to Winnipeg and charged with First Degree Murder.

A Canada-wide warrant for First Degree Murder was issued for a second suspect: Dyllan PETRIN, 19, of British Columbia.

On January 19, 2021, PETRIN was located in Vancouver, B.C. He was charged with First Degree Murder in Winnipeg and an additional charge related to a Kidnapping investigation in Surrey B.C.

On January 23, 2021, PETRIN was returned to Winnipeg and charged with the murder of Cody SLEIGH.

The Winnipeg Police Service would like to thank the Surrey RCMP, Surrey Police and several other task forces that collectively worked together to locate and arrest these individuals responsible for violent crimes in Manitoba and B.C
